Judge Says Liebowitz Might Need To Be Banned From SDNY

Law360 (June 26, 2020, 12:05 PM EDT) -- Citing a "deplorable" record of misconduct and lies under oath, a Manhattan federal judge on Friday ordered copyright attorney Richard Liebowitz to pay more than $100,000 in sanctions — and referred him for a possible suspension from practicing law in the Southern District.

The huge fine is the latest in a long string of penalties for Liebowitz, whose firm has filed more than 2,000 copyright cases over the past few years. Judges around the country have strongly criticized him for procedural missteps and aggressive tactics.
