Barr Warns US Tech, Media Cos. Against Cozying Up To China

Law360 (July 16, 2020, 9:39 PM EDT) -- U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr cautioned American companies Thursday not to get too cozy with China, singling out Google, Microsoft, Apple and several other tech and media outfits for being "pawns of Chinese influence."

The ultimate ambition of China's rulers isn't to trade with the United States — it's to "raid" the United States, Barr said during a speech at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan. And American companies are too dependent on Chinese imports and all too willing to collaborate with the Chinese Communist Party, he said.
