Senate Bill Seeks Ban On Cadmium In Kids' Jewelry

Law360, New York (February 4, 2010, 1:03 PM EST) -- Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and six other Democrats have introduced legislation to ban cadmium and other unsafe metals from children's jewelry, following a report that some Chinese-made charm bracelets and pendants for kids contain potentially toxic heavy metals.

Put forth Tuesday, the Safe Kids' Jewelry Act, or S. 2975, would block the manufacture and sale of children's jewelry containing cadmium, barium or antimony. The measure would also provide funding for enforcement of the ban, as well as additional studies on whether other heavy metals should be...
