EchoStar, DirecTV Settle Internet Search Dispute

Law360 (February 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Satellite cable television providers EchoStar Satellite LLC and DirecTV Inc. said Monday that they had settled a dispute that raised questions about the legality of purchasing trademarked names as keywords for Internet searches.

Each company promised to stop purchasing the other’s trademarked names as keywords from search engines in return for dropping federal district court claims from last fall.
