BP ERISA Suits To Join Securities Actions In Houston

Law360, New York (October 14, 2010, 2:43 PM EDT) -- All lawsuits from participants in BP PLC's employee retirement plans have been moved to a federal court in Houston, where the oil giant is facing a similar mass of putative securities class actions brought in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon accident.

The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation ruled Wednesday that, although there are differences between the securities suits and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act suits, there is a significant factual overlap that warrants their centralization in a single docket.
