Comcast Tries To Tackle DirecTV Over 'Free' NFL Package
Law360, New York (August 3, 2011, 10:27 PM EDT) -- Comcast Cable Communications LLC hit rival DirecTV with a false advertising and unfair competition suit in Illinois federal court on Wednesday, accusing the satellite television company of incorrectly claiming that its NFL Sunday Ticket service was free of charge.
DirecTV has advertised the deal as an alternative to cable's NFL coverage, falsely stating that cable does not provide coverage of all Sunday NFL games and failing to inform customers that the Sunday Ticket service is only free with a two-year DirecTV subscription, according to the complaint.
