YouTube Settles Copyright Feud With Music Publishers

Law360, San Diego (August 17, 2011, 10:01 PM EDT) -- Google Inc.’s YouTube LLC announced Wednesday it had resolved claims by a group of music publishers alleging in a proposed class action that the video sharing site illegally posted copyrighted works.

The National Music Publishers' Association filed a notice to drop its Second Circuit appeal of a New York federal court’s dismissal of its claims in light of the settlement, which allows for publishers to enter into licensing agreements with YouTube and receive royalties for musical works in videos posted on the site.
