7th Circ. Orders Rehearing In Rumsfeld Torture Case

Law360, New York (October 31, 2011, 4:51 PM EDT) -- The Seventh Circuit on Friday vacated its own ruling that former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld can be sued personally for damages by two American military contractors claiming they were detained and tortured in Iraq, and ordered a rehearing en banc.

The appeals court gave no reason for its decision to grant Rumsfeld's rehearing request.
