Actress Sues Google, Producer Over Anti-Islamic Film

Law360, Los Angeles (September 19, 2012, 9:10 PM EDT) -- An actress who appeared in “The Innocence of Muslims,” an anti-Islamic film that set off recent violence in the Middle East, filed a defamation suit against Google Inc. and the film's producer Wednesday, saying the YouTube-broadcast movie portrays her as a religious bigot.

Actress Cindy Lee Garcia’s lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Wednesday raises allegations that producer Nakoula Basseley Nakoula lied about the film’s plot and overdubbed anti-Islamic dialogue, and that Google refused to take down the video when Garcia raised objections.
