Court Axes Former El Paso Mayor's Suit To Save City Hall

Law360, Houston (November 30, 2012, 6:10 PM EST) -- A Texas federal judge Thursday dismissed a former El Paso, Texas, mayor’s suit that sought to prevent the demolition of a downtown building in favor of a planned $50 million sports stadium, finding the lawsuit was premature.

In dismissing Ray Salazar’s suit against the city and several officials, U.S. District Judge David Guaderrama ruled city residents have not yet been denied an opportunity to vote on whether the city should tear down city hall, depriving the court of authority to hear the case.
