Deals Rumor Mill: Dell, Gazprom, Deutsche Telekom

By Karlee Weinmann (March 19, 2013, 1:29 PM EDT) -- New York private equity powerhouse Blackstone Group LP could lob a takeover bid at Dell Inc., sources told Bloomberg on Tuesday. The computer maker has been under heavy shareholder scrutiny since it signed off on a $24.4 billion buyout offer from its founder and Silver Lake Partners, with investors contending that the purchase price lowballs their stakes. Blackstone could fly solo on the deal, but it is in talks with potential partners. Along with Hewlett-Packard Co. and Lenovo Group Ltd., Blackstone has pored over the Texas company's books ahead of a March 22 deadline for superior proposals, expected by many analysts to roll in and significantly drive up the company's price tag. Even at the current rate, the Dell deal would be the tech sector's largest buyout since the recession steamrolled dealmakers in 2008....
