NFL's Goodell Can Be Deposed In Super Bowl Seat Case

Law360, New York (July 11, 2013, 2:41 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Wednesday reversed her prior decision and said National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell can be deposed in a class action accusing the league of denying patrons promised seats at 2011’s Super Bowl, finding he has relevant, firsthand knowledge of the event.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Renee Harris Toliver, in an accepted recommendation from March, had found that Goodell, as an “apex executive,” did not have unique personal knowledge of the facts surrounding the seating snafu and that the depositions would be burdensome....
