NY City Council OKs Expansion For US Open Stadium

Law360, New York (July 24, 2013, 4:03 PM EDT) -- The New York City Council on Wednesday voted to approve a controversial $500 million plan to expand the U.S. Tennis Association's Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, site of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships.

The 47-1 vote came after some apparent last-minute negotiations between council members and the USTA that resulted in the tennis association reversing an earlier hard line against increasing financial support for the park.
