Recording Giants Sue Sirius XM Over Pre-1972 Songs

Law360, Los Angeles (September 11, 2013, 10:15 PM EDT) -- Capitol Records LLC, Sony Music Entertainment, UMG Recordings Inc. and Warner Music Group Corp. slammed Sirius XM Radio Inc. with a lawsuit in California state court Wednesday alleging violations of state intellectual property protections, the latest action claiming Sirius earned tens of millions of dollars broadcasting pre-1972 recordings without permission.
