Mass. Senate Approves Mashpee Tribe $500M Casino Deal

Law360, New York (November 7, 2013, 6:41 PM EST) -- The Massachusetts Senate approved on Thursday a gambling compact with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, paving the way for its controversial $500 million casino project to potentially score final federal approvals by year's end.

The second and third readings of the compact inked between the tribe and Gov. Patrick Deval passed out of the state Senate, after a voice vote Thursday, to be engrossed. The Massachusetts House of Representatives had approved the compact last month in an 116-38 vote.
