Deals Rumor Mill: Occidental, KKR, Freedom Group

By Karlee Weinmann (December 9, 2013, 11:52 AM EST) -- Three state-owned companies in the Gulf region are teaming up to take a minority stake in Occidental Petroleum Corp. in a deal that could be worth as much as $10 billion, sources told Reuters on Monday. Qatar Petroleum, Oman Oil Co. and Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Development Co. have hired Citigroup Inc. to advise them as they cobble together a bid for a 40 percent stake in Occidental's Middle East and North Africa business. Occidental said in October that it was planning to sniff out buyers for the holding, in line with restructuring plans....
