E-Book Consumers To Get Payouts From $166M Deal

Law360, New York (March 25, 2014, 1:18 PM EDT) -- E-book purchasers will begin receiving payments this week from a $166 million settlement between 33 states and five major publishers over e-book price-fixing, multiple state attorneys general announced on Tuesday.

Consumers who purchased e-books published by Hachette Book Group Inc., HarperCollins Publishers LLC, Simon & Schuster Inc., Macmillan Publishers USA and Penguin Group USA Inc. will begin receiving payments primarily in the form of credits to their e-book accounts, attorneys general from New York, Texas and several other states said on Tuesday.
