DHS Deputy Accused Of Playing Favorites In EB-5 Program
Law360, New York (March 24, 2015, 8:37 PM EDT) -- Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas created the impression of special treatment in the EB-5 visa program for immigrant investors based on his actions in cases dealing with the funding of a casino and hotel, electric cars and movie projects, according to a Tuesday report that also implicated Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
Mayorkas, the former director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, went outside the typical adjudicatory process in three separate cases, according to the report issued Tuesday by U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General.
