Airlines Back DC, Dallas In Scrum Over Antitrust Suits' Venue

By Pete Brush (October 1, 2015, 8:31 PM EDT) -- A Manhattan panel handling venue requests fielded a battle royale Thursday among plaintiffs lawyers seeking to get ticket price-fixing actions against four major airlines centralized in locales ranging from Louisiana to San Francisco, but those pushing for Washington, D.C., and Dallas benefited from support from the defendants. 

Southwest Airlines Co. counsel Alden L. Atkins of Vinson & Elkins LLP, arguing also for co-defendants Delta Airlines Inc., United Airlines Inc. and American Airlines Inc., pushed the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation for the nation's capital, where the U.S. Department is Justice is investigating allegations of anti-competitive behavior.
