Law360, New York (August 19, 2016, 7:50 PM EDT) -- The idea of legalizing sports betting has been gaining traction in recent years amid shifting attitudes and a widespread underground market, but the Third Circuit struck a blow to that momentum earlier this month by shooting down New Jersey’s attempt to allow it. Although some experts have said that other states could take up the issue and force a split in the courts, others now contend change will have to come through Congress.
