Solvay Sues Canada Co. Over ANDA For Generic Aceon

Law360, New York (August 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Determined to keep its hypertension treatment Aceon out of the hands of generic pharmaceutical makers, Solvay Pharmaceuticals Inc. has brought a suit against a Canada-based company known for aggressively pursuing generic versions of brand-name drugs.

Solvay filed the suit against Cobalt Pharmaceuticals in the U.S. District for the Northern District of Georgia after the Ontario company submitted an abbreviated new drug application for a generic copy of Aceon to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
