Calif. County Can Fight Tribal Casino, DC Circ. Told

Law360, New York (February 15, 2017, 9:17 PM EST) -- A California county has urged the D.C. Circuit to allow it to challenge a U.S. Department of the Interior decision backing a proposed tribal casino, arguing that it had retained the right to oppose the project.

Amador County is appealing U.S. District Judge Barbara Jacobs Rothstein’s March 13 dismissal of its suit after she found that a 1987 settlement between the county and the Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians blocked the county from challenging the tribe’s casino plans.
