'Unprofessional' Atty Avoids Sanctions In MLB TV Settlement
Law360, New York (February 27, 2017, 8:44 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge on Monday declined to issue sanctions against a Texas attorney who was behind a “meritless” objection to Major League Baseball’s settlement last year to end antitrust claims over game broadcast restrictions, but called his conduct “unfitting for any member of the legal profession.”
U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni said that despite attorney Christopher Bandas’ unprofessional conduct, she was not convinced the court had jurisdiction to sanction him since he never actually “appeared” in the case nor is he a member of the bar of New York federal court.
