UPDATE: Ill. Atty, Developer Freed From Claims They Defamed EB-5 Fund To Chinese Investors

Law360 (October 9, 2018, 2:33 PM EDT) -- A New York state court has shielded an Illinois attorney and his business partner from the U.S. Immigration Fund LLC's claims that the pair defrauded the EB-5 center out of millions by making false statements about the center to Chinese investors seeking EB-5 visas and inducing them to withdraw their capital from the fund.

In a March 29 dismissal order, Judge Melissa A. Crane threw out the suit as to attorney Douglas Litowitz and Chicago real estate developer Zoe Ma, finding that New York state did not have personal jurisdiction over the two.
