Insurers Win Litigation Ban In UK Claim Over $1B Texas Case

Law360, London (September 24, 2020, 9:56 PM BST) -- A London judge ordered a British engineering and construction firm to withdraw U.S. litigation seeking to force 10 insurers to cover defense costs for a $1.4 billion cost-overrun suit in Texas, extending his prior anti-suit injunction.

High Court Judge Richard Jacobs noted in his 22-page ruling Thursday that the defendant companies, AMEC Foster Wheeler Ltd. and AMEC Foster Wheeler USA Corp., launched the U.S. suit in New Jersey state court seeking coverage for their defense costs on July 1, without giving prior notice to the insurers.
