Feds Announce Arrests In $900M Medicare Fraud Takedown

Law360, New York (June 22, 2016, 11:51 AM EDT) -- Federal officials on Wednesday announced civil and criminal charges against 301 medical professionals who allegedly charged Medicare for more than $900 million in fraudulent billing as part of a three-day "nationwide takedown."

U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell said the takedown represents the largest number of arrests, spread over the greatest number of districts and featuring largest dollar amount that the Strike Force has made since it was founded nine years ago.

The arrests were in 36 federal districts across the country and involved 29 doctors, eight pharmacists, 11 nurses or physician...
