Feds Blast Kids' Bid To Halt Gov't Fossil Fuel Approvals

Law360 (February 20, 2019, 5:59 PM EST) -- The federal government Tuesday fought a legal bid to halt all new fossil fuel development, telling the Ninth Circuit that young people suing the federal government over policies they say worsen climate change have no basis to seek such a sweeping action.

In a brief attacking the motion for preliminary injunction, the government said the plaintiffs waited too long for it, noting that the lawsuit was filed three-and-a-half years ago, making the “preliminary” aspect of the motion suspect.
