Trump's Abortion 'Gag Rule' Blocked By Courts

Law360 (April 26, 2019, 11:30 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Friday blocked the Trump administration's "gag rule" barring federal-funded health care providers from giving abortion referrals from taking effect in the Golden State, a day after a judge in Washington issued a nationwide injunction.

U.S. District Judge Edward M. Chen said the state of California and its largest Title X program administrator, Essential Access Health, had adequately shown the “gag rule” would impact California, but they hadn’t shown how a nationwide freeze on the policy would address their grievances.
