All 50 State AGs Launch Foreclosure Probe

Law360, New York (October 13, 2010, 6:30 PM EDT) -- Attorneys general from all 50 states have launched a joint investigation into the mortgage loan servicing industry for allegedly violating state laws in foreclosing on delinquent borrowers.

Wednesday’s announcement from the National Association of Attorneys General follows persistent reports of improperly foreclosed mortgages and calls from some in Congress for a nationwide halt on foreclosures pending an investigation.

The individual attorneys general offices have already begun investigating whether mortgage servicers in their states submitted foreclosure notices, affidavits or other documents that were "robo-signed" or otherwise improperly...
