By Chelsea Naso ( May 22, 2014, 7:31 PM EDT) -- Reynolds American Inc. is said to be in late-stage talks to buy Lorillard Inc., in a complex, three-way transaction that could see British American Tobacco PLC take a major role to back a potential merger, sources told Reuters on Thursday. The deal would see the second- and third-largest U.S. tobacco companies merge into a firm with a combined market value of nearly $55 billion, and bring together both companies' brands, including Reynolds' Camel and Lorillard's Newport. Reynolds is scheduled to hold a press conference on "news related to economic development issues" on Friday, the company said....
