Ex-Sony Employees Seek Class Cert. In 'Interview' Row

Law360, Los Angeles (July 1, 2015, 4:37 PM EDT) -- Former Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. employees sought class certification Tuesday in their California federal suit claiming its negligence caused a massive data breach, purportedly carried out by North Korean hackers in retaliation for a movie in which Kim Jong Un is assassinated.

Plaintiffs argued that the predominance requirement needed for class certification was met because the focus of their claims was on Sony’s conduct, including whether it had reasonable security measures in place and adequately protected class members’ personally identifiable information.
