Mass. High Court Won't Tweak Law For Asbestos Claims
Massachusetts' highest court on Friday declined to allow victims of asbestos exposure to sidestep a statute of repose that bars many types of construction-related claims after six years, while noting that the ruling will have the "regrettable effect" of foreclosing on a wide swath of potential asbestos claims throughout the state.

Massachusetts' top appellate court questioned Tuesday whether it could make a sweeping change to asbestos claims by wiping out a six-year statute of repose without a nod from the Legislature as it heard arguments from General Electric and the estate of a worker.
