Law360 (April 25, 2018, 3:55 PM EDT) -- Lawmakers in Washington state thought that this was going to be the year that they would pass a carbon tax. After several years of rallying support, Democrats had lined it up as a central part of their revenue agenda, with Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee, including it in his State of the State[1] address and legislators introducing 12 different variations of the policy. Despite all this, however, they proved unsuccessful, with SB 6203[2], the governor's preferred bill, dying in committee a few votes shy[3] of passage.
