Avenatti Lawyer Says NY Jail Lockdown Stalls Calif. Case

(March 6, 2020, 5:15 PM EST) -- An attorney for Michael Avenatti told a California federal judge Friday that the parties in his upcoming trial for embezzlement and fraud are "working on a resolution" but that he hasn't received input from his client due to a lockdown at the New York jail where he is being held.

Michael Avenatti's attorney asked for a 30-day trial continuance because he hasn't been able to speak with the jailed celebrity lawyer, but a federal judge denied the request. (AP)
