2 Years 'Too Long' For Google's Epic Fortnite Showdown

Law360 (October 29, 2020, 9:55 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge pushed for a sense of urgency Thursday as Epic Games and Google eye trial over the Fortnite maker's monopolization claims against the search giant, asserting that a two-year timetable envisioned by Google is unacceptably slow.

The two companies need to "move briskly," said U.S. District Judge James Donato during a webcast status conference. The judge added he was hoping for trial sometime in 2021 but that 18 months — pegged to the initial conference held in early October — is the "outer limit," and a longer time period pushed by Google is simply unacceptable.
