How Discovery Has Changed Under New Federal Rules

Law360, New York (June 28, 2017, 11:49 AM EDT) -- The Dec. 1, 2015, amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure were the culmination of a five-year effort by the United States Judicial Conference’s Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure. The committee embarked upon its journey with the intent of putting reasonable limits on the bounds of civil discovery, especially in regard to electronically stored information (ESI). The amendment to Rule 26, in particular, was intended to promote efficiency, cooperation and judicial oversight.
